Speaking at the Body of Benchers’ inaugural Annual Lecture, he stressed that the judiciary is essential to democracy and that laws are foundational to civilization, warning against manipulating the law for personal gains, which could harm national stability
.Legal professionals were urged to uphold honesty and fairness, with a reminder that history will judge those who compromise justice.

Former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola criticized the current legal training system and questioned whether the Body of Benchers sufficiently scrutinizes new legal professionals. He suggested separating the training of solicitors from that of barristers to better address public concerns about the administration of justice
